Temporary roof structures
Weatherproof temporary roofs that protect the work, the building and your programme — designed and installed across Scotland.
Temporary roofs
Keep working whatever the weather
- Designed & installed by us
- Protects work & programme
- SG4 · TG20 standards
When a roof comes off, the building underneath is open to the weather, and a spell of rain can hold the whole job up. We design and install temporary roof structures that keep the weather off the work and the building, so roofers and other trades can carry on when they would otherwise be stood down.
They’re especially useful during roof works, or on any job where the weather would otherwise cause delays. Each one is designed around the building it covers and built as part of the scaffold, then inspected while it stands like everything else we put up.
When it helps
Where a temporary roof earns its place
A temporary roof is worth considering whenever a roof is opened up and the weather could stop work or damage the building below.
-
Re-roofing
Cover over the whole roof while it is stripped and re-covered, so the building below stays dry.
-
Roof repairs
Protection over the area being worked on, so repairs can go ahead in poor weather.
-
Loft conversions
Keeps the weather out while the roof is opened up for dormers and structural work.
-
Damaged roofs
Weathertight cover over a damaged roof until the repair can be carried out.
-
New builds
Cover over a structure before its roof goes on, so work below can carry on.
-
Commercial & industrial roofs
Weather protection over larger buildings during roof and maintenance work.

Safety
Built to stand up to the weather
A temporary roof has to cope with wind and rain as well as the work going on underneath it. Every one we put up is designed around the structure it covers and follows SG4 and TG20 guidance and the Work at Height Regulations.
Once it is up we inspect it at handover and at regular intervals while it stands, with extra checks after high winds, so it keeps doing its job for as long as you need it.
Our inspection service- Designed around the building it covers
- Erected and dismantled to SG4 and TG20 guidance
- Inspected at handover, then at least every seven days
- Extra checks after high winds, with a written report each time

Questions about temporary roofs
The questions we’re asked most often about keeping the weather off the work.
-
Can you supply temporary roofs?
Absolutely. Our team designs and installs temporary roof structures to protect your site from the elements. This is especially useful during roof works or when weather could otherwise cause delays.
-
When do I need a temporary roof?
Usually whenever a roof is opened up or taken off — re-roofing, loft conversions, major repairs — and the weather could otherwise stop work or damage the building below. If you’re not sure, tell us about the job and we’ll advise.
-
Is a temporary roof part of the scaffold?
In most cases, yes. A temporary roof is supported by the scaffold around the building, so the two are designed together — and we look after both.
-
Does a temporary roof need inspecting?
Yes. Like any scaffold, it is inspected at handover and at least every seven days while it stands, with extra checks after high winds.
-
How long can the scaffolding stay up?
For as long as the work needs it. While it stands we inspect it at handover and at least every seven days, with extra checks after high winds, so it stays safe if your programme runs on. Let us know the dates you expect to be working when you enquire, so the scaffold can be planned around them.
-
How do you ensure safety on-site?
Safety is our top priority. All scaffolding is designed and erected to meet current UK safety regulations, including SG4, TG20, and Working at Height standards. Our qualified team also carries out regular inspections and provides health and safety reports to ensure full compliance throughout your project.
